JOIN OUR ALLOTMENT

At Nuthurst Community Allotment, the word “community” truly defines who we are. Unlike traditional allotments with individual plots, we work together as a team to grow and share organic fruit and vegetables sustainably. Everyone is involved in every step, from sowing seeds to harvesting, and all members share in the produce grown across the entire allotment.

 

In 2023, we embraced the environmentally friendly “No Dig” method, which nurtures soil health and boosts yields. This approach has made composting a vital part of what we do, helping our allotment thrive like never before.

 

The social side is just as important. We host a range of events throughout the year, from BBQs and themed evenings to seasonal gatherings where we enjoy the food we’ve grown. Our Sunday Café, run by volunteers, is a favorite with walkers and visitors, offering freshly brewed coffee and homemade cakes.

 

We warmly welcome everyone, whether you’re passionate about growing food, connecting with nature, or simply meeting new people. You don’t need to be an expert to join—novices are warmly welcomed, and help and advice are always available. However, as a community allotment, members need to be prepared and able to commit to regular working at the allotment throughout the year.
